Abstract
This project focuses on creating an Arduino-powered smart lock system that provides a versatile, open-source solution for increasing home and workplace security. The smart lock incorporates various identification mechanisms, including RFID, fingerprint, and keypad, to give greater safety and accessibility than standard locks. The system is easy to customize and integrate, making it a significant addition to the smart home technology industry. The project also focuses on inclusive design principles, which address accessibility issues for the elderly and disabled. Environmental considerations are crucial, because the use of electronic components frequently entails toxic elements such as lead and cadmium. Adherence to RoHS rules and the promotion of recycling both contribute to reduce environmental harm. Ethically, the project stresses user privacy and data security, assuring adherence to GDPR and ethical norms such as the IEEE Code of Ethics. Secure data processing and informed permission are critical components of the design, ensuring that the system meets all legal and ethical standards. Finally, this smart lock project seeks to provide a cheap, customization, and secure alternative to standard locks while addressing critical social, environmental, and ethical concerns.
