Abstract

This report discusses about the design and implementation of a PIN-based door lock control system using a PIC microcontroller, which aims to improve the security and inconvenience of society. To operate this PIN-based door lock control system, the user needs to enter the correct pin using the 3x4 matrix membrane keypad, while the PIC microcontroller, PIC16F877A will receive the input and process. If the pin is correct, the PIC microcontroller will unlock the door through the electromagnetic magnet. There is an LCD display screen that will provide feedback to the user to let them know if the in entered is correct or not. In this report, benefits of each component compared to others is explored like why choose PIN authentication over RFID. This security system is also cost effective, environmentally friendly and user friendly.
