Abstract

This project focuses on the development of a machine vision system aimed at improving plant health monitoring using artificial intelligence. The study begins by addressing the growing importance of precision agriculture in ensuring optimal crop yields and minimizing the impact of diseases on plants. As technology advances, the use of AI and machine vision has become an essential tool for enhancing agricultural practices. Throughout the project, various AI algorithms are explored, particularly those suitable for detecting plant diseases. Techniques such as Random Forest, Deep Learning models and etc are studied for their function in classifying and diagnosing plant health. Machine vision plays a critical role in capturing and analyzing images, providing a robust framework for plant health assessments. The system is developed over several phases, starting with data collection and image pre-processing, followed by the training the YOLOv11n model. Results showed a good sign of capability in detecting and predicting diseases on lettuce with inference with real-world images.
