Abstract

The issues of land pollution and littering continue to escalate nowadays as the lids of dustbins need to be opened and closed manually by hand. As technology develops rapidly, it may be difficult to open the bin cover as people busy holding other items and the cover can contaminate their hands when touched. This project presents the design and implementation of a smart waste bin that operates using ultrasonic sensing and an automatic lid mechanism. The system aims to address common hygiene and environmental issues which often caused by manual waste disposal method, leading to littering and spreading of pungent smell throughout the city. The main objective of this project is to develop a low-cost and contactless smart waste bin system to encourages proper waste disposal and convenient the users
