Abstract
This report analyses the shortcomings of current mainstream RFID access control systems and points out that while most research has focused on functional and security improvements, such as dual-authentication, IoT remote notification, and data upload, but overlooks a simple yet common problem, which is users may be unable to enter the target area due to card loss, damage, or unreadable conditions. Based on this, the report proposes to integrate a numeric keypad as a backup password verification mechanism into the standard RFID access control system. Parallel verification logic is employed, meaning that unlocking the door is possible only if either RFID or password verification succeeds, effectively improving the system’s fault tolerance, availability, and emergency response capabilities. The system is further implemented with Telegram IoT function for remote control and registration and deletion for RFID card and password updating. This design aims to provide a relatively low-cost, highly practical access control solution for environments such as homes, offices, and other small to medium scale applications
