Abstract
Motorcycle rims are critical structural components that directly influence vehicle safety, as rim failure during operation may result in severe accidents. To ensure reliability, standardized testing procedures such as those outlined in ISO 8644 are used to evaluate rim strength and durability under real-world loading conditions. However, physical testing based on ISO 8644 is often costly, time-consuming, and limited in providing detailed insight into internal stress distributions. This project aims to address these challenges by simulating the ISO 8644 testing standard for motorcycle rims using ANSYS software. A 3D model of a motorcycle rim, incorporating appropriate material properties, was developed and subjected to loading conditions defined by the standard. Through finite element analysis, the study evaluates key parameters such as stress distribution, deformation, and potential failure regions. The simulation results provide a comprehensive understanding of the rim’s structural behaviour, enabling early identification of weaknesses without the need for extensive physical trials
