Abstract

Traditional containers require occupy large open spaces especially for the container ship. This project is to design a container that can be folded when emptied of cargos to save space and solve the problem faced by the shipping industry. Foldable container basically consists of 2 side wall 2 doors, a base and a roof. The implement playing the important role is the hinge. The hinge is a device that connects the two walls or solid structure together to perform the folding operation. Throughout this project, material will be selected and the benefit of the foldable container will be discussed. Furthermore, in this project there will be some important calculation needed in order to design the foldable container.
