Abstract

In this thesis, we focus more on structural analysis and make improvement on dump truck body. Nowadays, high maintenance cost of dump truck body due to damage sustained during constant loading and unloading activity every day. To reduce the cost of maintenance we need to do analysis on structural and make improvement of dump truck body. Thus, there are few objectives need to approach such as structural design with calculation and simulation, and using the steel and rubber liner bar to reduce the damage on to the dump truck body. Furthermore, in the following chapters I will introduce the dump truck body, problem statement and the objective. Following this we will go into detail about literature review, which is to support idea of dump truck body and designing the structure of dump truck body. Besides, dump body liner as explored in the chapter, which carry to specification and property of steel and rubber liner. Next, the calculation part on the bending stress has been carry on, which calculate the dimension of the beam to ensure that meet 1.5 factor of safety. After that, I had used the dimension from my calculation part to do the drawing in solidworks software. These drawing parts are using to do the simulation analysis. Finally, the result from simulation was acceptable where the factor of safety was 1.48. We conclude on the final chapter about the overall progress and experience we gained throughout the entire project.
