Abstract

The paper presents the ability of the engineering software in design and simulates the vertical axis wind turbine. There have two kind of vertical axis wind turbines selected through the simulation which are Sanonius wind turbine and new vertical axis wind turbine. Analyze the two difference wind turbines is to acquire the comparison purpose. Ansys Fluent software used for obtained the simulation result and to analyze the different wind turbine. The force acted on the blades will be simulated out and the data will be used for continue calculation in order to compare the torque for these two turbine. The high torque turbine will be selected to continue design and analyze the operation of the turbine. All the parts of vertical axis wind nu•bine were designed with the SolidWork software, and then the prototype is enabling to start progressing. The design section can be a more tough part, it including many of consideration. The motion study can ensure the performance of the turbine is operational in real design. Finally, the behavior and result comparison observed during the software simulation, the higher effective and efficient of vertical axis wind turbine was selected. The wind turbine through the laboratory test and obtained the result also will compare with the ideal result which get from the simulation.
