Abstract

The project that we have done is to find new alternative to overcome the problem of depleting natural resources. Our aim is to exploit the available renewable energy, that is, wind energy to generate electricity for domestic usage. The design of our wind turbine is to extract wind power from the wind that come in any direction. The powers that can be extracted from the wind are done according to the Albert Betz Theory. With the understanding of Betz Limit, we can understand the limitation of our wind turbine. The wind velocity in our country is low and inconsistent; therefore a vertical axis wind turbine would be more suitable to be used in Malaysia.
